QUIZ NIGHT RAISES £811
On Monday 29th Sept The J’s Hospice held a quiz in The Meadows shopping Centre. The evening was a resounding success with the Mayor councillor Tom Willis his Lady Mayor’ess and there deputies in attendance. All had a great night; we held a raffle with some fantastic donated prizes - thank to all who kindly donated to the prizes.
We must thank the great team at the Meadows for hosting and arranging and for providing the great food and some prizes. The evening raised a fantastic £811 Thank you to all who helped and took part with out your much needed help it will not be possible to build The J’s Hospice.

MARK BRENNER CONCERT A HUGE SUCCESS
A Fundraising concert was held in the grounds of Cuton Hall Chelmsford, raising funds for two local charities the J’s Hospice and the Chelmsford Cathedral bells appeal.The evening raised £2300 being split equally. The event was held in a marquee and there were 220 people in attendance being entertained by top French band The Mark Brenner Band with guest Ben Brunning. Mark and the guitarist are English the keyboard and drummer are French. The group regularly entertain at the British Embassy and other top French venues. I must say they are excellent performing and evening of covers with there own interpretation, they also write and perform there own material as well.
Sixteen-year-old Ben Brunning who has in the last month had two hip replacements is recovering from a chronic hip disorder. Ben who is a remarkable young singer visit his my space link below. He has recorded a CD with all the profits kindly being donated to the J’s Hospice Ben presented a cheque for £1018 which the sales have so far raised to Alan and Denise Whiffin after there son Jonathon the Hospice is named Denise being the founder Trustee.

CREAM TEA RAISES £627.31!
Our annual Cream Tea event took place on Sunday 17-08-08 and raised £627.71 net.
We are very pleased there was a good turn out and some much welcomed new faces, including our new head of fundraising Nick Garner.

ALL OUR RUNNERS FINISHED THE LONDON 10K RUN!
Here's some pix of our successful runners in the London 10K run on 6th July.

MAYOR OF MALDON PRESENTS CHEQUEThe Mayor of Maldon, Councillor John Almond, on Monday 21st April 2008 at Town Hall, Market Hill, Maldon at 8pm.
The Mayor kindly presented to Mrs Denise Whiffin founder and trustee of The J's Hospice a cheque for £150 being one of many cheques presented to various local charities by the Mayor. The money was raised during his year in office through various charitable functions within the Maldon area.
The trustees of The J's would like to thank all the very kind people of Maldon for their generosity.

MARK BRENNER TAKES CHELMSFORD BY STORMThe Mark Brenner Band from Bordeaux, France took Chelmsford by storm on Sat 5th April. This is the 4th year running that Mark and his band have travelled to Chelmsford to perform for The J's Charity.
This year the band performed a special Beatles show, complete with costumes. They were also joined on stage by a young Chelmsford man named Ben Brunning who sung a fab rendition of You Don't Know me by Michael Buble.
The event raised £3,000. Ben has a CD available costing £8, half of which is being donated to The J's.

OPENING OF THE J'S HOSPICE FUNDRAISING OFFICEMonday 29th October 2007 saw the opening of The J's Fundraising Office in Springfield Road.
The event was attended by The Mayor, Cllr David Lee, the Mayoress, Nikki Lee, Simon Burns MP, former Mayor, Duncan Lumley, Naomi Millbank Smith and Danny Rhodes.
Naomi was in the latest series of Shipwrecked and Danny was a runner up in the recent Grease competition.
Both Naomi and Danny are very keen to support The J's Hospice and appreciate the need to build a hospice for people of their age group. |
