Join the fun! Registration has opened for the annual Pedal for The J's bicycle ride taking place on Sunday 13th May 2012. The J's Hospice is pleased to announce that registration for this year's Pedal for The J's bicycle ride is now open. Join around 500 people taking on the varied routes through Essex's beautiful countryside and villages. Excitement and anticipation is already growing following the press launch that took place this week. Fundraising Manager Nick Garner, together Paralympic Boccia gold medallist Dan Bentley and returning participant members of Chelmsford Fire Station came together to celebrate the launch. This was covered by local newspapers including The Essex Chronical as well as BBC Radio Essex. Firefighters from Greenwatch participate each year and Jason from the watch explained 'we like our cycling and when we heard about the Pedal for the J's we just had to get involved. We have a brilliant time and think its great fun, great for families and great for people of any ability'. The event promises to be an enjoyable day out for individuals, couples, families as well as seasoned cyclists. There will be three different levels of ride, 15 miles, 35 miles or 50 miles, all of which pass through Essex’s most beautiful countryside and villages. Starts will take place between 8 and 11am. All routes will start and finish at Admiral’s Park in Chelmsford with the 15 mile route taking in the Chignals, Pleshey and Great Waltham, whilst the longer routes travel towards the Rodings, Hatfield Broad Oak and then back through Great Canfield to join up with the shorter ride. The spirit of the event is ‘taking part’ so you can go as fast or slow as you like. Around 400 people participated with a total of £10,000 being raised in the process.' Photos from the 2011 event are available here. Registration is £12 (£7 for under 16s) which will include a refreshments, a Pedal for The J's T shirt and medal; there is no minimum sponsorship but of course we ask you to fundraise as much as you can! Every pound will make a difference to young adults with life limiting conditions who need our care and support. Registration is open now so hurry as places are filling quickly! You can register online via our Pedal for the J's event page. |
