Lauren Goodger, star from The Only Way is Essex, is supporting The J's Hospice as they launch their first ever J's Day this week. The J’s Hospice and its supporters are getting ready to hold the first ever J’s Day this Friday 21st October with a theme ‘Be Bold Be Blue’ to help The J’s raise £10k in a day. The funds raised will go towards providing home based hospice services for young adults with life limiting and life threatening conditions. Lauren says “I am proud to support The J’s Hospice as the work they do and care they provide is invaluable to the people and families that they support. Being from Essex too, it’s nice for me to be able to support a local charity as it’s often the smaller charities that are forgotten about.” The local community, companies, colleges and celebrities are getting behind The J’s and organising a diverse range of activities across Essex……… from blue hair to serving blue soup. Intercounty Estate Agents in Duke Street are helping The J’s to raise £10k in a day. Branch Manager Jeremy Monks said "It is such a worthy cause we just had to do something to contribute. We have promoted awareness by putting up our eye catching boards advertising the event all over Chelmsford." John Seward, Sales Manager at the branch said "The sales staff will be out in force throughout the day collecting money from members of the public. Both buyers and sellers attending accompanied viewings on the day will be asked to make a contribution towards J's Day.” Part of our sales team Sharnie Rogers and Molly Blake will be accompanying The J's team on Saturday 22nd at Asda Chelmer Village, where they will be painting faces whilst trying to raise every penny possible. Everyone at Intercounty will be doing their upmost to help hit the £10,000 target for the day.” Writtle College Students Union will also be supporting J’s day by serving blue soup on the day and college staff have persuaded local florists to donate blue flowers to be arranged into bouquets for auction on the day by another J’s supporter, Pure Consulting, recruitment consultants based in Chelmsford. £10,000 is enough to pay for a healthcare assistant to provide 900 hours of care for young adults with a life limiting conditions such as cancer, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Huntington’s chorea and Rett’s syndrome. The J’s Hospice provides this care in the patient’s own home but the healthcare assistant can also take the young adult out and about to enjoy themselves. If you can do something blue for J’s Day please contact Dominique on 01245 351514 and let us know that you are joining in the fun. The J’s Hospice fundraising team will be out and about visiting and picturing all the events that are taking place on our behalf and you will be able to read a full round up of events next week. |
